Winterschool: Computational Chemistry and Physics on the Nanoscale

July 18 to 31, 2009 - Ouro Preto, Brazil

This winterschool is addressed to Brazilian Master and PhD students in chemistry, physics, materials science or related subjects with a strong interest in computational chemistry and physics. Moreover, it shall encourage you, if you plan to do your Masters or doctor's degree in Germany. In both participating German universities, the Dresden University of Technology and the Jacobs University Bremen, no tuition fees are charged.

The workshop is organized by Dresden University of Technology and the Jacobs University Bremen. It takes places in Ouro Preto, about 100 km away from Belo Horizonte. The Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais is the local partner university.

The workshop is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), who covers accommodation and full board for successful applicants.

The winterschool will contain lectures computational chemistry, computational physics as well as nano, material and life sciences given by German and Brazilian researchers. The participating students will present their own research on posters or talks. Hands-on tutorials will give more insight into performing up-to-date computer simulations and computer-based research.
