Winterschool: Nanotechnology for the design of functional materials: Theory, experiments, and developmentsSept. 28 - Oct. 11, 2012, Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, BrazilThis winterschool is addressed to Brazilian Master and PhD students in chemistry, physics, materials science or related subjects with a strong interest in computational chemistry, physics, and materials science, as well as experimental materials and nano sciences. Moreover, it shall encourage students to make contact to the participating European researchers, especially if they are interested in carrying out a Master's or doctor's thesis (or parts of it) in Germany. The workshop is organized by Dresden University of Technology and the Fraunhofer Institut IFAM Bremen. It will take places in Florianópolis on the campus of Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, which is the local partner university. The workshop is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Accommodation will be covered for successful applicants. No participation fees will be charged. The winterschool will contain lectures in computational chemistry, computational physics as well as nano, material and life sciences given by German and Brazilian researchers. The participating students will present their own research on posters or talks. Hands-on tutorials will give more insight into performing up-to-date computer simulations as well as using state-of-the-art experimental techniques. Besides the theoretical background of the theoretical and practical methods, the workshop will focus on the development of functional materials, their special characteristics, and experimental techniques for production, characterization, use and processing of these materials. Application closed.
